About Me

Christian Siauwijaya is a Research Assistant at the University of Chicago’s Booth Business School and at the University of Glasgow’s School of Social and Political Science. He received his master’s with distinction in financial economics from the University of Glasgow. Before coming to Scotland, Christian completed his first-class bachelor’s degree in development economics from Universitas Brawijaya. Christian is currently in the job market, looking for opportunities within the academic or private sectors.

Christian’s research interests lie at the intersection between applied microeconomics, industrial organisations, development, labour, and political economics. These interests include studying the effectiveness of international organisations, understanding how zombie firms can appear in Indonesia, and investigating financial literacy in Australia. Besides his academic work, Christian consulted the German Institute for International Development (DEval) and the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).

Christian is familiar with statistical data analytics. Some of his skills include data science with Python (Jupyter Notebook, NumPy, Pandas), web scraping with Python (Selenium), econometrics with STATA (panel data analysis, causal inference), and analytics with Excel (XLOOKUP, PivotTables, Eikon Datastream).

Christian enjoys travelling and hiking when he is not engaged with research. Some hiking routes he conquered in Scotland and England include Pitlochry-Craigower-Killiecrankie, Beinn Dubh-Glen Striddle Horseshoe (Luss), Conic Hill (Balmaha), Rydal Cave (Lake District), Arthur’s Seat (Edinburgh). Besides the outdoors, Christian is an avid F1 fan who enjoys Japanese city pop, funk, and orchestrated music.
